![]() The flow of water slows down, and the energy is taken out of the river - this means the material is deposited. When a river floods, the water-covered area is called a floodplain. In the end, the only thing left is what we call a 'meander scar', a visual reference that once there was a meander (that became an oxbow lake). Therefore, over time, the lake will silt up and become a bog or swamp before evaporating entirely at some point. 3 - Oxbow lake in Lippental, Germanyįun Fact: Oxbow lakes are still water lakes, meaning no current flows through the water. ![]() ![]() Oxbow lakes often have the rough shape of a horseshoe.įig. In due course, the deposition can cut off that meander (loop) from the rest of the river, creating an oxbow lake. 2 - Meanders of the Rio Cauto in CubaĮrosion causes the outer banks to grow wider and create bigger loops. The result is a steep cliff on the outer bank and a nice, gentle slip-off slope on the inner bank.įig. The water flows faster on the outer banks, causing erosion, and slower on the inner banks, causing deposition. These curves mean that the water flows at different speeds. Meanders are loopy! These rivers curve along their route in a loop-like pattern rather than going in a straight line. In order to become a delta, the sediment must enter water that moves slower or is stagnant, which often is where a river enters an ocean, sea, lake, reservoir, or estuary. Alluvial fans are found in the river's middle course at the foot of a slope or mountain.ĭeltas, flat, low-lying deposits of sediments, can be found at a river's mouth. When water is confined in a channel, it can then freely spread out and infiltrate the surface, depositing sediments you will see that it has a cone shape. TypeĪlluvium is gravel, sand, and other small(er) material deposited by flowing water. There are several types of river deposition landforms, so let's look at them now. The river reaches its mouth - the river reaches flatter land, so gravity isn't pulling the river down the steeper slopes. The water is or becomes shallower - if evaporation is higher or there is less rainfall. The eroded materials increase - the buildup will slow down the river's current.Falling river volumes - for example, during a drought or following a flood. What are some of the reasons a river slows down, you ask? Well, the reasons include the following:

It’s definitely not a plug-and-play situation. I had a few head-scratching days when first trying to hook up the Montage to my DAW (Logic). And the included CFX is going to see quite a bit of use here as well.)īut surely, no one would ever buy the Montage for its banks of orchestral/acoustic instruments? (As I assume no one would buy Omnisphere mainly for its strings or guitars?) In fact, despite it weighing only 400 or so megabytes, I like its sound better than the 32 gigabytes of Vienna Bösendorfer. (I quite like the Bosendorfer though which you get as a free bonus gift. Most of them are fairly decent, sure, and will come in quite handy on stage I guess, but they’re definitely not to be called upon in situations where a 2016-degree of mock-realism and believability really matters. I don’t think there is a single orchestral or acoustic instrument in the Montage that compares favourably with what dedicated sample libraries have to offer. lemme know if you have any more specific questions, ill try to describe what i can. ![]() though i cant say much because im still on the hunt for a great controller and id pay it if it was perfect for my needs. is it worth 4grand? man i really dont know, that is alooot of cash. and since ive taken it upon myself to add many physical and touch midi control for my vst instruments. being able to physically touch controls always inspires me that way. but i will say this, i spent alot of time just sitting there enjoying messing with sounds and music. honestly i only owned it for a week so i didnt master it by any means. touch ribbon mod strip was actually pretty cool, surprisingly responsive and accurate. then, if you wanted to really up the anti, crank the super knob. once again, compared to the kurzweil which had just as many controls (minus the yamaha super knob), the yamaha was able to distort the sounds much farther, with the ability to do multiple selections of distortions on one knob or fadar within one instrument. my favorite part of the board was how customizable the sounds were using the on baord controls. the sounds were great honestly, a very nice fullness to them. much more light to the touch, yet equally balanced across the board in a way that allows you to play both piano and multiple other instruments with out feeling like youre having to give up quality feel on one instrument vs the another. I owned a Kurzweil PC3K8 not long before it and the keybed felt much better than the Kurzweil. Now, excluding that personal dilema, it was a fantastic board. so ultimatly i would have just paid $4000 for the keys and mod/ pitch wheel. though, im sure you can still record it using a usual audio out method. it was a great board, but i primarily work with vst instruments for film composing, so it didnt really apply to my work, since you cant run the sounds and effects directly into a DAW as a VSTi (at least not until they release some kind of interface like the Motif xf8 supposedly has). So, I might be the only forum member with a Super-Knob Synth for now, also changed my forum Avatar to the cool Super-Knob. (It doesn't provide control surface functionality for Cubase Pro 8, which you would think would be something they would have done, given that the Montage doesn't have a sophisticated onboard Pattern-Sequencer like the Motif Line).Īnyways.so far no one on this forum has indicated that they are getting. I feel they didn't focus much on the Integration with Cubase Pro 8. I am hoping that Steinberg/Yamaha will bring the Montage Integration closer to Cubase, (Most likely when Cubase Pro 9) is released. The Super Knob is pretty cool, although I have not gotten to program it yet, but I think that alone can keep me busy for years. With the FMX engine the possibilities are quite endless. But, I'm still old-fashioned, and love using, and programming HW Romplers. Given that most of the emphasis here is Sample Libraries, (mostly Kontakt based), a Rompler like the Montage is not the most popular tool around this forum. I'm just beginning my journey of discovering this new marvel from Yamaha. Lots of possibilities for sound design, and a great performance keyboard. This area in France is a popular holiday destination for visitors from the UK, but is lesser known to tourists from North America. For just about the same amount, you would have obtained a much more flexible option that is just not possible when booking a shared tour.Small, charming villages are a specialty of France, but, I’m convinced that you’ll find the prettiest villages in the Dordogne, an idyllic region in the southwest corner of the country. My suggestion when traveling with your family in a small group of more than 4 persons would be to book a private tour. Our guides, including Florence, also go ‘out of their way’ to accommodate our clients in the best possible way when any unforeseen event occurs but this can happen only if the clients actually make it to the tour. Because of this, you and your family missed out on a perfectly organized tour that includes timed visits, live commentaries & an insider’s knowledge of the area. When this situation occurs, our guides have the possibility to wait for a certain amount of time but at some point, they do have to leave so it does not penalize the other participants – of whom you make no mention of but who did pay for their tour and are also entitled to expect a great service from us. The real issue concerning your tour, as you admit, is the fact that you arrived late. As you mention, it is the quality of our guides that have made the reputation of our tours in the Dordogne and Florence has been with us for several years and her professionalism and guide qualities are mentioned in many reviews. Since 2012 we have been running tours from Sarlat and a very large majority of these are positive, so we were quite surprised when your rating was published. We have received your review and read it with great attention. ![]() And know that Viator will not refund any portion of the fee you paid. Bottom line: expect no leeway if you meet for this tour in Sarlat. The initial mix up was our fault, no question, but in my previous experience with Viator tours, the guides bent over backwards to accommodate clients. I had hoped for a guide like the ones in the reviews I read about this tour, someone who would make an effort to interest the grandchildren in paleolithic art. Florence handed us tickets but provided no additional information. The same situation obtained at Lascaux IV. The tour showed us the paintings, but since the tour was in French, we missed a great deal. We met her at the Roffignac cave, where we were handed tickets-no English information about the cave. Florence also refused to let us catch up with them at the museum, nor would she provide the tickets we paid for for us to return the next day (we did return and purchased tickets on our own). My son returned within 5 minutes, but, alas, it was too late. There was no time-limited entry to the Prehistoric Museum, and the three other passengers in the van were quite willing to wait for him, but after 5 minutes, Florence announced that she would wait no longer, so my grandchildren, my daughter-in-law, and I were left standing on the street while Florence drove off. He set off for the nearest free parking, which was a 10 minute walk back. Then we had a problem of our own making-just as I was looking for the tour guide, my son realized after reading the difficult French information that by the time we returned, the price would skyrocket for parking. She insisted that we should have known that the bus stop was the correct meeting place. The guide, Florence, was irritated that we had trouble finding her. The meeting place the Viator confirmation had said was "Place Pasteur," which was that parking lot. The tour guide for Viator's local contractors (OPHORUS Excursions Tours in France) had no sign alerting us to their van, parked on the street instead of in the large parking lot adjacent. Sadly, this tour went poorly for my family. Reviews talked about the wonderful guides other travelers were given. I am a historian and wanted very much to immerse myself and my grandchildren in the cave art produced by people 15-30 thousand years ago. ![]() After fabulous experiences with Viator tours in Europe, I signed up quickly for this trip-the major reason I came to SW France. ![]() This will make it easier for users to follow along with their finger or mouse.
